eBay
Most people have at least some experience with eBay. It pretty much allows anyone to make some money off old stuff and a massive network of sellers can find a number of things. When looking for headphones, I found my favorite pair of Sony’s at several different retailers, both new and used for several different prices. I also found a brand new pair of Ultimate Ears super.fi 3 studio earbuds for $69 which is about $30 cheaper than buying them directly from the manufacturer. For fun, I decided to look up Vintage headphones and found seventy nine pairs of antique phones and clumsy cans.
eBay has so much stuff, it’s a bit overwhelming and you won’t always find what you want right away. But half the fun is uncovering things you never thought of before. As for vintage gear, this is a great place to find it. It’s like a virtual garage sale and if you’re good at it, you might get some killer deals on valuable stuff. If you can’t find what you want, however, there's a good chance you'll find it if you check back in a few days. The market's in a constant state of flux.
eBay sells some items with its ‘buy it now’ option, but it's known for its auctions. When you have your eye on something, you're going to be competing with other buyers and it's good to have a strategy to increase your chances of winning a particular item. There's an evaluation system that rates retailers on eBay, so you can make sure you won't get screwed by some random dude in Omaha, but I suppose there's still always a small risk. You also have to take into account that you're at the whim of people's shipping and return policies and that there's no universal customer service or technical support with eBay.
