Fleece-lined stereo headphones and ear warmers combine to keep you warm on cold days and the music hot between your ears.
Sometimes, you never know what you are going to get when you shop on the web. Products that appear to be gimmicks usually are. There is nothing wrong with having some fun and wasting funds on a headphone product that looks cool, but most likely suffers in the audio department.
The weather here in New Jersey has been quite miserable the past few weeks, so it was not a coincidence that we were looking for some cold weather gear.
So, what happens when you order a pair of fleece-lined ear warmers from a company that is known for its cold weather clothing, and they decide to include a rather formidable looking set of headphones that can be attached to an iPod.
In our case, we got seriously lucky.
The supplied headphones feature flat-diaphragm neodymium drivers and you would be quite amazed at the sound quality, when driven by an iPod Shuffle. Having spent the better part of a week auditioning inexpensive clip-on earphones, and earbuds, I was in no mood to start playing with fleece ear warmers that included headphones.
Jim Croce’s “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” seemed like the appropriate first track to throw at these and it made me sit back in my chair and listen for a few minutes with a stupid look on my face.
I know. Not hard for me to have a stupid look on my face on a good day, but these proved to be one of those insanely brilliant products that really work. The cable detaches from the ear warmer which is a great feature for people who may not want to use these as headphones and just enjoy the warmth that they supply.
I downloaded some hip-hop/rap onto the Shuffle and cut loose with some Beastie Boys. “Root Down” has a wonderful bass line that gives high quality headphones some difficulty and I was totally floored by how well controlled it was by these headphones. It had all of the tone, weight, and extension of a really good pair of entry-level headphones.
The midrange was even better. Clean, detailed, and just forward enough to keep you engaged, but not cause any fatigue.
Do you think these would look dumb in Florida?
Worth every cent.
