Sennheiser HD201

Great fit, inexpensive, average sounding
The Good

The Sennheiser HD201’s are extremely comfy. Instead of sitting on top of your ears, the leatherette cushions muffle them, offering a sense of noise isolation, snugness and comfort.

The Bad

The Sennheiser HD201’s lack sensitivity as well as bass. Although the volume on an audio device may be turned up, the same intensity and degree of volume will not be reflected in the headphones. Also, the bass is a little thin and lackluster. Also, for some reason these headphones like the letter “s.” Expect elongated hissing (‘ssssss’) sounds.

The Sennheiser HD201 is truly your common, no-frills, run-of-the-mill headphones. Nothing about the Sennheiser HD201 is extraordinary. The fit may be warm and snug, but the performance is nothing short of conventional. The volume’s sensitivity is just enough for “normal” volume play, the bass is far from ‘boomy,” and there seems to be a consistent tendency to draw out the letter ‘s’ in vocals. Other than that, they’re comfortable and do a decent job in terms of noise isolation. Overall, they’re nothing exceptional but nonetheless do perform according to what they’re worth.
