What is this thing called “the headphone love”? What is the buzz all about? Is this new “love” some sort of cult following?
Well those who have treaded in audiophile waters have known quality headphone listening for some time now. Even in the 70’s you could find a high quality headphone: Stax’s, Grados and other European brands like AKG were around and listening to music on them made your ears happy.
But now there is a new, bigger trend happening in the headphone world. The headphone market is exploding into something that no one really predicted. Many point to the i-Pod and other mp3 players as the prime culprits.
These devices allowed us to incorporate music into our busy lives. Now, all of us busy folks can squeeze “quality” music time into our travels, lunch breaks, exercising, etc. And as we rediscovered music with these flashy, portable ipods, we became more critical of the music we were listening to. Soon enough many of us ran to replace the ear buds that came with our portable devices with some sort of more advanced, better headphones.
And with all of these new devices in the marketplace and more and more people listening to music and looking for ways to improve the quality of the sound, an entire industry was awakened. Not only were new companies born, numerous audio groups and communities were created to provide forums and information for headphone lovers and seekers.
I think this is healthy situation for all of us. There are many quite impressive headphone related products on the market today and I believe there is something out there for everyone out there. And here is where our (and my) work begins. We’ll try to bring you new important info about what is happening out there in headphone circles, forums and the industry at large. Most importantly, we’ll tell what is and is not worth putting on your wish list.
You are most welcome to join us on our quest!
